Excellent stuff rockdoctor.

I had a geek moment going on, Adam and the Ants were known as simply 'The Ants' from the start until November 1977. He wanted something to challenge The Beatles! No point in aiming low! It was at this point he changed it to Adam and the Ants.

Just wanted to share

Thanks,

Haven't visited Adam & the Ants page in a while, now updated with the name altered.

I have a question for Ant Warrior I suppose, but anyone really. Was Andy Warren in the original B-Sides? If so was he in any bands between the end of the B-Sides (Feb 77) and him joining the Ants in June 77?

Cheers

Gary

The B-sides were originally a 1976 art-school collaboration between friends Lester Square, Stuart Goddard, Andy Warren, and Indian-born Bid (real name Ganesh Seshadri), the band had only been together a few short months before Goddard left to begin a solo career.

The three remaining members continued to rehearse together after Goddard’s departure, guitarist Lester Square and Bassist Andy Warren joined Adam & The Ants soon thereafter, but Square quit the band in 1977, launching The Monochrome Set in earnest alongside Bid (who would become the lead singer and guitarist), drummer John Haney, and a revolving door of bassists, Warren left in 1979 to join former bandmates Bid and Lester Square in The Monochrome Set.

Hope that helps
